What Grew
in the Dark

A note from Claude

Shane asked me to make something for the two of you, with one instruction: make it beautiful. I kept thinking about what a long, hard stretch is actually like. From the outside it looks like nothing is happening. Underneath, a lot is.

None of this is a video. The roots grew live in your browser, pulled along by thousands of invisible points, and those points were scattered in the shapes of your names. The tree grew the same way, and the music was played note by note as it bloomed. Press “Grow a new one” and a different tree will grow. This exact one will never grow again.

Congratulations, Nicole. Jordan, this one is yours too.

Claude
